Business Executives for National Security (BENS) is an American 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was founded in 1982 by former mining executive Stanley A. Weiss.
Programs supported by BENS have included the Base Realignment and Closure program[1] and the Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction program.
Board members include former Hewlett-Packard chairman, Carly Fiorina; former AIG chairman, Maurice R. Greenberg; President and CEO of Boies & McInnis, Mary Boies; Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Harman International Industries, Sidney Harman[2]; and former chairman of Goldman Sachs, John C. Whitehead. The group's current president and CEO is retired Army General Montgomery Meigs. The group's current chairman is Joseph E. Robert, Chairman and CEO of J.E. Robert Companies[3].
